What is Owl Eyes?
Quite a few things! Basically an online store that sells animal and environmentally friendly nick-knacks, candles, shirts, bracelets, etc.. We’re a non profit organization and try to donate to as many different animal charities as possible; recommend one! Although we 100% support Peta, we believe that they have the wrong approach to things. Violence is not the answer to fixing anything; it’s what started most of the problems in the first place. Our Earth is in a horrible condition; physically, mentally, and emotionally. Global Warming isn’t approaching, it’s here. Not only are humans suffering from our weather and environment changes, but we are the biggest contributes to the cause. We also have all the best resources to try and reverse this big mess that we’ve made out of our environment AND society, so why sit back and watch everything fall apart and do nothing to stop it?
Facts that you probably didn’t know:
- 6-8 million cats and dogs are brought into animal shelters every year. 3-4 million of those animals are euthenized.
- due to the recession, these numbers will most likely be doubled by the end of the year. Shelters just don’t have the funds to feed the dogs and cats.
- Over 8,000,000$ goes into animal testing experiments every year. Why is this money used to hurt animals, not help them?!
- It is a proven fact that animals are well aware of what is happening to them while they are in slaughter holding houses.
- Millions of animals are slaughtered each year. This is more than 85,000 tons! It equals the weight of both the Titanic AND her sister ship.
- U.S. taxpayers pay an estimated 2,000,000,000$ each year to round up, house, kill, and dispose the now lifeless bodies of animals. This is MORE than enough to feed and permanently house animals in need all year.
- Pigs are smarter than dogs. Would you eat your dog? What’s the difference? All animals have feelings and thoughts.
- If you would kill a mother’s human child for food, you’d get life in jail. If you kill a baby calf, you aren’t even fined.
What’s the Issue?
The issue is that everyone wants a puppy or a kitten. It’s the reason why so many adult dogs and cats are left in the shelter, and also the reason that there are so many in the first place. Most of the time, humans impulse buy on anything that they feel like they want, need, or deserve. They don’t take into consideration the time, funds, and dedication that goes along with owning a pet. When the novelty wears off and the realization sinks in, they don’t cope. Animal’s aren’t toys! You couldn’t go to an adoption agency and come out with a kid without proving that you are capable of caring for and raising one, so why can you go to a pet shop and come out with a living and just as intelligent and sensitive creature? It’s ridiculous! Everyone needs to learn to take responsibility for their actions and learn to be less picky!! It’s sad that the dogs and cats that are the most in need are the ones often left behind.
